My name is Yerlys De La Cruz Peñaloza. I am from Colombia and live in Panama City. I was born into a Catholic family, but they did not practice the faith—they never went to church, and we were never forced to. Islam came to me when I was searching for something I did not yet know. A message appeared on Facebook, and I liked it very much. Sister Amira Islam sent me a message asking if I wanted to learn more about this religion, and it sparked great excitement in me. I spent a long time reading everything shared in the groups, and I liked it more and more each time. I was very worried about my family until I spoke to them, and they accepted it. Islam has changed my life greatly. My first Ramadan was the most beautiful experience of my life; I will never forget it. I pray all my prayers and feel a deep discomfort when I miss them. Mashallah. I will never change my religion for anything or anyone. I have already achieved what I aspired to, and I am very happy with my faith and practicing it, God willing.
